Empower a Woman, Empower a Community
The health and social development of our communities highly depend on women, which makes it paramount to empower them. A woman who can tap into her full potential is capable of raising hearty and healthy children and bring forth a more socially, mentally, emotionally, and even physically healthy society. But the reality is that there are countless societies yet to undertake this worthy cause.
Sheelda Enterprises Limited, with Company Registration RC 1538037, was founded in 2018 with the specific purpose of providing a sustainable means of livelihood and socio-economic empowerment for rural women in underserved rural Kidang Village of Borno State in the Northeastern region of Nigeria.We work with the women by engaging them based on their skills in local food processing, provide training in producing hygienically processed ethnic foods, and connect the products to a global market.
What We Are Trying To Solve.
Of Nigerian Women are in extreme poverty.
Of Nigerian Women are agricultural landowners
Of Nigerian Women are underemployed or unemployed.
Our Proposal
We believe that the addition of women into the workforce makes for increase in economic diversification, income equality, productivity, gender equality as well as more positive outcomes.
We are working on providing a platform where women can come in contribute, engage, improve their economic standing and decrease the under-employement and unemployment crisis facing women in Africa.
Our major goal is to create successful businesses for women turning them into entrepreneurs, changing the narrative on the gender gap.
Our Mission
As a Social Enterprise, Sheelda’s topmost priority is empowering women. By engaging them in local food processing based on their skills, we enable them to:
- Provide basic amenities for themselves and their families
- Offer their children a good education foundation
- Gain and sharpen already existing skills
- Eventually, lift themselves and their families out of poverty
Our company is geared toward achieving the Sustainable Development Goal 5 (Gender Equality and Women Empowerment) and Goal 8: (Decent Work and Economic Growth).
Every day we work relentlessly to create economic opportunities and social empowerment of rural women in Northern Nigeria by engaging their skills in production processes, which provides a decent wage for them, their families, and the community at large.
